I’ve been having a look at a new automated link building system called automatic backlinks which is a text link ad network where you display links on your site in exchange for credits with Automatic backlinks which can be used to place links on other sites on the automatic backlinks network.
Similar link networks like co-op and link vault have wanded in popularity amoung the SEO community in the past few years as they became overwhelmed by spam but the publishers of this new site seem to have a grasp on the kind of quality guidelines they need to maintain for this to be a viable link building tool for reputable, quality sites.
If you don’t have the capacity, ability or desire to display links on your own site you can purchase credits from automatic backlinks to display links on the network which works out fairly affordable compared to text links of similar stature on other services.
The main value of text links built in this way are to improve your search engine rankings for specific keywords which you’re targeting. I’d suggest the best way to use automatic backlinks, or similar services would be to target your anchor text on longer tail keywords, so 3 or 4 word phrases rather than big money terms. Also I’d point these links across your whole site rather than all to your homepage or your sales pages- this way your link profile will look more natural to the search engines.

There’s always a temptation for search marketers when writing blog posts to say with a thousand words what could be said with 50 (or an image for that matter). Its a basic rule of SEO that the more content you have the more chance of picking up those long tail search queries which are all so important for long term traffic strategies.

On average this blog gets 30-50 spam comments a day. So much so if I leave the blog unmoderated for a few days I have to delete all comments as I don’t have time to sieve through the spam to find the real comments.

Posting has been pretty slack lately but will be picking up again in the coming few weeks. As usual there’s a stack of stuff going on in the digital marketing industry and I’ve got plenty of ideas for interesting blog posts coming up.
in the meantime a quick followup to m previous post about the relaunch of the ask.com search engine. Ask have pretty much finished their facelift now and the new engine does have some nice features with a much more up to date index than before- as such I’ve seen a lot of rankings picking up in ask and starting to look more like Google rankings probably giving some indication of where this algorithm is going. However tacky features like the changable skins seem unlikely to pinch much of Google’s market share!
