Google referrals for Adsense offer good revenue
I’ve recently added the Google referral ads to the homepage of Vanilla. I wasn’t sure about these as I thought if people wanted this stuff they’d know where to find it or have it already- particularly due to the topics discussed on here. However in the last week or so I’ve had 4 or 5 people getting referred from the ads at $2 each (the beers are on me!). The Google Pack ad in particular seems to be driving interest.
These ads present a pretty rare opportunity as affiliate programs usually require your visitors to go off and spend some money before you get paid for the referral- which they’r not usually looking to do while reading an SEM blog. Another example of this type of free product referral I came across a while ago with again a few small successes was with banners for the free online mens magazazine monkey through affiliate future. this paid 50p each time a referral signed up for the free mag which was getting a fair bit of promotion at the time (but has recently finished). If you’re a small time blogger you might want to think about looking for some similar free affiliate schemes to throw into the mix with your adsense ads- you may be surprised at the results.
